    • Condrieu Chéry 2013

      91/100

Robe or pâle brillante. Nez tout en finesse, plutôt discret, dominé par des notes exotiques et pâtissières. En bouche une très belle texture, beaucoup de volume, de finesse. L’expression est très délicate et persistante.

      Condrieu Chéry 2014

      95/100

Robe or, limpide. Le nez demande de l'aération pour profiter pleinement de ses nobles parfums de fruits blancs à noyau, de miel, de fleurs des champs. La bouche est en pleine construction avec une explosion fruitée finale. Un vrai concert gustatif.

      Condrieu Les Ravines 2014

      94/100

Robe lumineuse, or.

      17/20

      Condrieu Héritage 2014

      18/20

      Condrieu Chéry 2013

      93/100

Coming from older vines planted on the terraced slope of the famed Chery lieu-dit, the 2013 Condrieu Coteau du Chéry saw the same elevage as the Les Ravines, with 40% in barrel and 60% in stainless steel. It’s more focused and edgy, with serious minerality giving way to notes of under ripe peach, citrus rind and subtle floral notes. Almost racy on the palate, it opens up beautifully in the glass and have a vibrant, chiseled feel. There’s nothing blowsy or overdone here, and I suspect this will show even better in next year.

      Condrieu Chéry 2014

      92/100

A deep, rich and mineral-laced style of Condrieu, Niero’s 2014 Condrieu Chéry is loaded with notions of apple blossom, honeyed tangerine, smoke and citrus. Coming all from the famed granite soils of the Chéry lieu-dit (which is one of the top terroirs in Condrieu and consist of mostly 50- to 80-year-old vines), this medium to full-bodied beauty has plenty of mid-palate depth, good acidity and a focused, yet lengthy feel on the palate. Aged 12 months in 60% stainless steel and 40% in oak, it’s a terrific success in this less than straightforward vintage.

      Condrieu Les Ravines 2014

      90/100

A small step back from the Condrieu Chéery, yet still outstanding, the 2014 Condrieu les Ravines comes from a multitude of granite terroirs (Roncharde, Côte Chatillon, La Caille, Vergelas and Corbéry), and saw 12 months in 60% stainless steel and 40% in French oak. Classic and textbook in style, with plenty of apricot, tangerine and citrus blossom, it’s medium-bodied, forward and charming, with bright acidity and a great finish. It won’t make old bones some drink bottles over the coming couple of years.

      Condrieu Héritage 2013

      91/100

The top wine of the estate, the tiny production 2013 Condrieu Héritage comes from a number of terroirs (similar to the les Ravines), and sees 12 months in equal parts French oak and stainless steel. Starting out crisp and mineral-laced, it blossoms with time in the glass and reveals beautiful notes of white peach, marmalade, stone fruits and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, classic, energetic and lively, it strikes a good balance between richness and fresh, and comes across as a classic, textbook Condrieu. It will drink well for 4-5 years.

      Côte-Rôtie Vires de Serine 2013

      91/100

Much more concentrated and layered, yet also more modern in style is the 2013 Côte Rôtie Vires de Serine is 100% Syrah; it comes from La Viallière and Bassenon lieux-dits, and was completely destemmed and aged two years in 100% new French oak. Cassis, black raspberry, licorice, smoked meats and a kiss of graphite all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, ripe, layered, modern styled Côte Rôtie. It’s certainly enjoyable now, but I suspect the oak will start to fade with another two to three years of bottle age and it should still be drinking nicely at age 15 or older.

      Côte-Rôtie Eminence 2013

      95/100

Fine, fresh fragrance, ripe fruits; loganberry, pine needles, and a touch of resin on the nose. Medium to full with no heaviness. Good concentration, very elegant, with purity and length of flavour. Ready now, very Burgundian in style. All the elements are there, and all in balance. Very well done indeed. 2015 to 2024.

      Condrieu Chéry 2013

      97/100

Hauntingly pure peach and apricot fruit. Very full and soft, a cherubic style of wine. Plenty of mouthwatering salty acidity on the finish and a nip of oak. Very long, suave and compelling.

      Condrieu Les Ravines 2014

      93/100

Incredibly pure peach and apricot fruit. This has a real lightness of touch and beautiful elegance to it. The oak is present but it doesn’t overwhelm, and contributes to a long, floral finish inlaid with wood spice. A beautifully judged, restrained style of considerable finesse.

      Condrieu Chéry 2014

      95/100

An incredibly pure, ethereal aroma rises from the glass like dry ice, this is a beautifully perfumed wine. Very full-bodied, with sweet peach and apricot, clove and cinnamon and a long, mouthwatering finish. So long. A lesson in purity.

      Côte-Rôtie Vires de Serine 2014

      92/100

Destalked fruit from the lieux-dits of La Viallière and Bassenon. It has a dark, brooding, earthy/floral nose. Full-bodied, with rich, plush fruit, freshness, and a good sense of balance. The wine has a considerable degree of oak influence but it’s very well made – give it a couple of years before broaching.
