In the mid-1980’s the current owner quit his career as a banker and took over from his father-in-law, Jean Pinchon, who had an established reputation for his Condrieu classic. He has since endeavored to increase his domain and maintain a financially viable winery. Mr. Niero crafts classic wines, which are subtle and warm without artifice. His son Rémi joined the domain in 2004 to live their mutual passion of the vine and the wine. |
The exceptional localisation of hillside terraces associated with control of the wine-making process will allow you to find the aromatical intensity of their Condrieu and the power taste of their Côte-Rôtie. The parcels of land planted with Viognier – the variety of grape from which Condrieu white wines are made– are located on the slopes of Ronchade, Côte Chatillon, La Caille, Vergelas, as well as on the prestigious slope of Chéry. All are located directly on the Condrieu community. The wine-making process takes place in a recently built, air-conditioned “Chai” with all the modern equipment. Rémi et Robert NIERO practice what is called culture raisonnée, an approach to viniculture, which respects nature and keeps the authenticity of the wines they suggest to their customers. |
